Parental Involvement Policy
Rationale
We aim to provide an environment in which teachers and parents support each other in developing the social, moral, academic, physical and spiritual development of the children in our care.
PURPOSE
- To have good communication with parents.
- To obtain as much relevant knowledge about the child as possible, from Year 3 through to year 6.
- To give parents a clear, honest picture of their child in school.
- To work with parents in identifying aims and objectives for children and in finding and implementing agreed solutions when problems arise.
GUIDELINES
- Parents will be made to feel welcome in school and their concerns or worries will be dealt with in a sympathetic, sensitive and prompt manner.
- Parents are encouraged to approach class teachers or the Head Teacher with information or concerns on an informal basis by calling in to school for a brief word. Where more time is necessary appointments can be made at mutually agreed times.
- Information from the school will be communicated to parents mainly by letter. When individual need arises parents will be contacted in person after school or by phone.
- Parents are involved in their children’s learning through parent’s evenings, home reading diaries, curriculum workshops, pre-admission meetings, end of year reports etc.
- Parents will be involved in the school in many ways including:
- Working in classrooms with children or helping teachers with resources, after arrangement with the teachers concerned and the Head Teacher.
- Helping with after school activities and school trips.
- Being involved in fund raising activities and social events through the PTA
Conclusion
When parents and school are supporting each other, children will experience a more consistent approach to their learning and general development which will give them the best opportunity to develop their full potential.
