Welcome to Year 3 at Tipton Green Junior School. This year we have only three classes of approximately 30 children each.

The year 3 staff this year are Mrs Wise - 3JW, Miss Genner - 3VG and  Mrs Roberts - 3KR.

In year 3 we cover the three core subjects of Literacy, Numeracy, Science as well as ICT and the foundation subjects which are themed as far as possible.  Each term we base some of our work on a particular theme. 

We encourage children to complete regular pieces of homework as well a regular reading practice at home

On Tuesday afternoons all children in Years 3 and 4 take part in curriculum enrichment activities, under the supervision of our dedicated support staff and also some outside agencies. They will be learning how to gardening, play chess, take part in various craft activities, participate in musical activities, learn another language etc.  

As they will also be expected to participate in P.E activities, it is imperative that they have appropriate kit in school. It is a legal requirement that all children take part in P.E. activities unless there is a prescribed medical reason preventing this.   Year 3 P.E. is generally on Thursday afternoons.

We like to think that our children look smart at all times so wearing school uniform on all days is encouraged. Sometimes on charity days, children are allowed to wear more casual clothing but they are informed when this is appropriate.
